A damaged foundation can lead to thousands of dollars worth of repairs, and that is only if you catch it early. If you aren’t sure what signs to look for that your foundation is having problems, then it can be difficult to tell when it’s time to call and professional. Here is what you should look for.

1. Visible damage.

The foundation is meant to last for many, many years. This means there should never be any visible signs of damage. If you see cracks, sagging walls, pooled water, or mold, it’s a sign there is serious foundational damage and that you should contact a professional contractor to repair it immediately.

2. Moisture.

The presence of moisture around the foundation is never a good sign, but sometimes it is unavoidable like after it has rained. But if you notice the soil around the foundation is unnaturally wet and no rain’s phone recently, can be assigned to your foundation is retaining moisture inside the walls.

3. Warped ceilings.

The foundation holds up and maintains the structural integrity of your home. If you notice your walls seem to be sagging or the ceiling itself looks warped, it can be a sign there is foundational damage you’re not aware of. However, you should not try to diagnose this yourself. If you see any of the signs that indicate severe damage to your home, contact professional to inspect it.

If it is discovered that you have foundation damage, you should hire someone to prepare and sure of your foundation. Cracked foundation repair is a common service offered by many contractors, but not all contractors are created equal. Before you hire one, look at their certifications and previous customer reviews to get an idea of their level of skill and professionalism. Hiring the right contractor can make the difference between a foundation that is repaired for a year or two and one that is repaired for the rest of your life.
