Important designing principles that shape the interior space

According to designers, there are no rules when it comes to interior design, but everyone can use a few tips here and there. We asked a few of them to provide us with insights about the internal design process. We found out that if you do the interior design well, you can do anything in your space. To accomplish the design harmony, make sure you follow these steps:

Real-life functionalities

In the process of interior design, spatial planning comes first. By definition, space planning includes blocking out interior spatial areas, defining circulation patterns and developing plans for furniture layout. Every design project begins with an assessment of the room’s functionalities and manipulation of elements to fit the client better. They often ask clients what they need in their space, and how do they pulse through their everyday life?

The purpose of spatial planning is to create functionality. For many architects, this means ditching megalomaniac trends, including unnecessary additions and objects. We find out that most clients approach to experts thinking that they need more space, more storage area and more of everything. What they can do is to guide them carefully towards more straightforward, functional solutions.

For example, maybe a client will approach with a request for a more significant addition to the home. However, the designer will find out that reorganising the existing setup and incorporating a smaller addition would deliver what the client needed in the first place.

Functionalities and simplicity are best shown with the help of UI/UX design. Think about a website as an apartment you’ve visited. If it’s not intuitive enough and you need someone to point out what is supposed to be evident – than that’s not the right design solution. Every business strives to create the perfect, seamless online experience for clients once they visit their online space. From e-shops to gaming and travel – simple organisation is key to functionality. When we mentioned gaming, let’s analyse the well-known game of bingo. Bingo games have moved online, and only the best bingo sites have incorporated functional gaming templates and simple registration processes to make more space for what’s more important-the game itself. Make sure to check them out and compare the bingo’s gameplay in the online area.

Careful on materials and texture

It doesn’t take for you to be a designer and know that quality and sustainability are critical priorities if you want to make your space look flawless. Materials and construction determine how people experience space. Right quality materials feel different than those of poor quality.

Natural materials and elements of nature always radiate and align in interiors. Designers often incorporate fabrics like wool, linen and silk and favour furniture with robust wood construction or quality antique. On the other hand, let’s not forget that spending a lot of money on something does not necessarily mean that you’ve purchased a quality piece.

Make sure you evaluate the endurance of the materials. At the same time, that piece should be easy to manipulate and maintain. There are great finds with satisfying quality at much lower price points.

Details layering

The impressive concepts of interior design are nothing without the support of details. Whether that’s the lampshade setup or the width of the bedroom closet, the good designer has to be detail-oriented and specify all details in order to support the final result. They often check their progress and goals during the process and make sure they’re going down the right path. It’s effortless when you have the chance to choose from a vast collection of materials and styles on the market. If designers don’t go back and evaluate whether elements meet the space goals, chances they may not be the right choice is immense.

Balance and authenticity

Interior design projects should be user-first personalised, beyond the catering to their aesthetic taste and preferences. Great designers integrate clients’ everyday belongings and must-haves, including mirrors, make up sets or antique souvenirs. You want the corners to be authentic, original and unique. Even if the design is supposed to be simple and modern, try to incorporate a quirky detail that will make the room more appealing.

Evaluate the space’s overall composition for balance rather than deliberately creating focal points. Finding the right balance starts with the room’s architectural basics like the doors and windows. See the space from every available corner and think about what you’re looking at from each angle.
