When it comes to an air purification system that is very effective, people become very confused about which one should buy for their home. Many of us don’t know correctly what an air purifier is or what an ozone generator. In this article, I will discuss both so that you can decide which one is better.

Before we start the discussion, you have to know that an Air purifier is a filtration device that cleans the air by its filter. It pulls air through its series of filters and captures and separates harmful particulates from the air stream. On the other hand, an ozone generator or ozone air purifier is a machine that creates a large amount of Ozone that treats the surrounding air. It does not filter the air, but it disinfects the air with an oxidizing function of O3 or Ozone.

How Does Air Purifier Work?

A home air purifier uses its internal fan system to pull in the surrounding air, and its internal filtration system removes harmful particles like dust, pollen, and bacteria. After this process, the air purifier circulates the clean air back into the room. It is a continuous process. It can repeat several times in an hour or more, depending on the surrounding air quality.

How Does Ozone Generator Work?

The ozone generator is also known as an ozone air purifier. Mainly an Ozone generator is used to remove strong odor. It is true that an Ozone generator can remove any kind of bed smell like pet-related or smoke odors. This machine works smartly. The ozone generator collects O2 (oxygen) from its surrounding air and gives it a strong electrical charge.

This electrical charge forces O2 molecules to rearrange and form O3 that is also known as ozone. After creating an ozone machine, release ozone into the surrounding air. And ozone attaches itself to bacteria, fungus, germs, odor and eliminates the cell wall. That’s how ozone destroys strong odors.

In this section, many people can get confused about O2, O3. Let me clarify. We all know oxygen; there is nothing to describe. But you have to know that our breathable oxygen is dioxygen, also known as O2. When Two oxygen molecules bind together, that is O2. Now what comes to the point, when three oxygen molecules form a bond together that become ozone or O3, is also. referred to as “trioxygen.”

Common Uses for Ozone Generators

Many proven evidence says that the ozone generator is harmful to our health. Even though it is detrimental to the human body, it can also destroy any strong odor or bacteria, germs, and viruses. You should not run an ozone air purifier for a long time, but it doesn’t mean the ozone generator shouldn’t use it.

How to Use an Ozone Generator Properly

As we said before, an ozone generator is harmful to our body, especially the lungs, creating critical health issues with any respiratory condition. Before using an ozone generator in your home, you have to know how to use it properly. For better results, you can follow these steps.

  • Keep your fan or A/C running in slow motion for better air circulation of ozone.
  • If you have to use the ozone generator for a long time, take a break and continue after some time.
  • It is important to make sure everyone is out of home, including your pets.
  • For better results, you should cover all of your houses, including corners.

How is Ozone Air Purifiers Different from Other Purifiers?

Now let’s talk about how an ozone generator is different from other purifiers. Most of the air purifiers use filters for air purification. But ozone Air Purifier releases gas in its surrounding air. This gas works as a sanitizer and removes any type of odor and pollutants.

The fundamental difference between the ozone generator and any other air purifier is that regular air purifiers use filters to make surrounding air breathable, for example, HEPA filter, activated carbon filter, charcoal filter, But the ozone generator releases a cleaning chemical that destroys the surrounding pollutants.

Ozone May Reduce Immune System

As we said before, ozone may create many health issues. It is also accused of many long term illnesses.  Especially if anyone has any health condition like asthma, allergies, or any other respiratory infections, besides those, there is a lot of evidence found that ozone exposure can reduce our immune systems’ strength.

In 2007 a team of scientists from the Duke University Medical Center, situated in Durham, England, confirmed that breathing ozone inhibited lab mice’s early immune systems. They have found that ozone exposure is responsible for many diseases and infections in the human body. Also, ozone exposure makes our human body less capable of fighting with lung diseases caused by bacteria or viruses. Mostly, children, the aged, and people with asthma are at risk. Ozone’s exposure also creates irritation of the eye, nose, cough, and shortness of breath.

Final Thought

In conclusion, After above all of the discussion, it is understandable that the ozone air purifier is more advantageous than any other typical air purifier. Ozone generators also remove any type of strong odor from the house faster than others. But the ozone purification system can be the cause of many health conditions.

Besides, an ozone generator can affect indoor plants, pets. Some evidence found that ozone exposure can damage materials like rubber, electrical wire coatings, and fabrics. Now you know a lot of things about ozone and ozone generators. It’s all up to you how you use an ozone generator. The above information may help you to know the proper use of an ozone generator.
