For those of us that have invested in one of the best grills on the market, we want to make sure that it lasts as long as possible so we do not have to spend lots of money again anytime soon. The best way to prolong the life of your grill is to protect it during the winter months when it will be idle. Luckily, with a few simple tips and tricks, you can easily keep your grill safe from weather damage while getting ready for summer! Here are some ideas on how to protect your grill in the winter!

Cold Climates – Putting your grill away

If you live in a cold climate, it’s important to take extra care of your grill during the winter months. Here are a few tips:

  1. Keep your grill clean and dry. Wipe it down after each use, and make sure to remove any grease or food build-up.
  2. Cover your grill with a tarp or storage bag. This will help protect it from the elements and keep it clean.
  3. Store your grill in a sheltered area, such as a garage or shed. This will help keep it from getting too cold or wet.
  4. Check on your grill regularly during the winter months, and give it a good cleaning before using it again in the spring.

Cold Climates – Covering your grill

If you live in a cold climate, it’s important to take measures to protect your grill during the winter months. One way to do this is to cover your grill. You can purchase a cover at a store or online, or you can make your own. Make sure the cover is durable and weatherproof, and that it fits snugly over your grill. You may also want to consider storing your grill in a shed or garage during the winter. Before covering your grill, you should make sure to clean it out. Clean the racks, the burners, the control knobs, etc. If you have a stainless steel grill, you may also want to apply some stainless steel protectants to fight the wear and tear that snow and rain can bring.

If you have a charcoal grill, you’ll also want to make sure that you’re covering and storing the charcoal, lighter fluid, and any other grilling accessories in one of these beautiful deck boxes to keep everything organized without having to bring them in the house.

Warm Climates – Storing your grill

If you live in a warm climate, chances are you can leave your grill out all year long. But if you have to store it, make sure to give it a good cleaning first. Take off all the grates and plates and clean them with soapy water. Rinse them off and dry them completely before putting them back on the grill. Next, clean the inside of the grill with a wire brush. You can also use a putty knife to scrape off any caked-on residue. Be sure to get rid of any pieces of food that might be stuck to the grill, as these can attract insects or animals. Finally, cover your grill with a tarp or a piece of plastic to keep it clean and dry.

If you want to keep your grill in good condition during the winter, it’s important to take some precautions. First, make sure to clean your grill thoroughly after each use. This will prevent rust and other damage. Second, store your grill in a dry, sheltered area. A garage or shed is ideal. Third, cover your grill with a tarp or other waterproof cover. This will protect it from the elements. Fourth, if you have a gas grill, disconnect the propane tank and store it indoors.
