With the end of summer comes the cooler air and colorful views of fall. The brisk temperatures can be a nice change from the sweltering summer heat. However, it will not be long until the frigid months of winter are upon us. Before those winter months, there may be some tasks you want to tackle in preparation.

1. Seal Cracks and Drafts

There is nothing worse than a cold and drafty house as you try to stay warm. You can purchase weather stripping kits that contain sealing for both doors and windows to help alleviate any cracks and crevices. This also helps to lower heating costs in the winter.

2. Do Winter Cleaning

You may have heard of spring cleaning, but have you ever considered doing some winter cleaning? Before you batten down the hatches and secure your home for winter, it can be refreshing to give your home a good and deep cleaning.  This can help make you feel even more comfortable over the winter months when open windows and fresh air are not as easy to come by. A great way to freshen up your home is Atlanta rug cleaning and restoration.

3. Clean Out the Gutters

Having blocked or damaged gutters that do not allow the winter snow melt to drain properly from your roof can cause leaking and other structural issues. Whether you need to call a professional or can clean the gutters yourself, it can be a good idea to stay on top of this task throughout the fall months, when leaves clogging gutters may be a common problem.

Taking care of these few tasks before the winter months are upon us, can save you time and stress later down the road. Then you can sit back in your warm and cozy house, relaxing as you watch the winter snowfall outside.
