Apple boosts its investment in clean energy

While Apple has already built a strong portfolio of renewable energy projects, it is opting to significantly expand its investments in order to match the amount of electricity that is being used by its European customer base.

Wind and solar farms are currently in development across Romania, Poland, Latvia, Italy and Greece, which adds to its existing Spanish solar array.

Apple aims to be carbon neutral by 2030

In 2020, Apple announced its commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030, and these new investments take the brand a step further towards achieving that goal.

The announcement came as Apple recognised that consumers increasingly want to know that they’re choosing to support brands who are taking steps to mitigate climate change.

A renewable future

More of us are choosing to explore our own renewable energy options, with searches for terms such as ‘solar panel installation Portishead’ and similar increasing in recent years. To explore your solar options, it can be helpful to visit the websites of specialists such as https://redbridgeandsons.co.uk/solar-pv-panels/solar-panel-installation-portishead/.

A look at Apple’s greenhouse gas emissions

In 2024, the energy needed to power and charge Apple devices accounted for just under 30% of the company’s overall emissions. Its carbon neutral strategy is designed to offset its product usage and decisions are being made to actively support renewable projects that will have the maximum impact on a global level.
