Choosing a Backyard Design

Hny5rft December 07, 2017 Reviews Leave a Comment

Your backyard can become an additional living space, an entertainment area, a cozy retreat or a combination of all of those. It can be designed so that it complements the exterior of your home and is conducive to your lifestyle.

Choosing the Ideal Design

A good starting point for creating a backyard retreat that you can enjoy for years to come is to meet with a professional in the field of landscape design in Jacksonville Fl to determine what type of design would fit your budget and your lifestyle. You’ll also want to determine what design would work well with the size and shape of your backyard. If you have a pool or if there’s a lake at the edge of your yard, you may want your backyard design to include a pathway that leads to either of those features. An ideal location for a relaxation area is at the end of a walkway that leads to a lake.

The Shape of Things

If you’re planning to add a patio to your backyard, you might want to have the patio designed so that it accommodates your entertainment style. If you typically have a small gathering when you entertain, a round patio might be your best option. When people sit in a circle the communication tends to flow better. A round patio is visually soothing which encourages relaxation. If you like to entertain a large group of people, an expansive round patio can work well. A rectangular firepit as a center point for a conversation area is another patio design idea that works well with a large group of people.

A Cozy Retreat

Chances are you will use your backyard more for personal relaxation than for entertaining. Including an intimate space with a firepit and a couple of comfortable chairs, a double chaise or a loveseat will give you a cozy place to relax at the end of the day. That area can be just outside your back door or at the end of a walkway leading to a garden, pool or lake. The addition of a pergola can enhance the reclusive atmosphere of your cozy retreat.

When well-designed in accordance with your lifestyle, your backyard can become a frequently used area that you, your family and friends will enjoy. For cohesiveness, use landscaping materials that complement your home’s exterior style.
