Planning the Big Update at home

It doesn’t take a fortune to take a bland room to a stunning one, with just a few strategic changes. Often, painting and adding a few signature pieces are all you need to update and transform any room to give it a truly unique and upscale look. The right paint, be it for an accent wall or a total color change, can make a room look chic and updated for very little. Adding a few additional touches can have everyone asking how much your debt you accrued redecorating.

Planning the Big Update
Before you paint one stroke or change a throw pillow, take the time to consider what you would like the end result of your redecorating efforts to look like. Do you want to take a room from dark and heavy to light and airy? Do you want to go from a country decorum to a nautical one? Ask all the important questions and begin with the end in mind. To stay on budget, keep track of how much each touch you add to your update will cost, and choose the updates that you like the most, not all of them. Updating your home with small budget friendly changes will never require anything as serious as construction litigation support.

Paint for Change
Painting is one of the most inexpensive things you can do to redecorate in a dramatic way. Something as small as changing the color of your walls, or a wall, can transform the whole mood and look of a room. These days, paint comes in a variety of different textures, and hues. You can buy any and everything from paints with a flat finish to a satin or glossy finish. Best of all, paint is not going to empty your pockets like a new leather sectional will.

That Old Sofa
Do you have an old sofa that has no fault except for the fact that it’s old? How lucky you are if you are fortunate enough to have this type of dilemma. An old piece of furniture that is still sturdy and functional can be updated quite easily. If you want a total change, investing in slipcovers can give old furniture an instantly new look. If you don’t want to take it that far, adding throw pillows or simply changing the ones you are using, can create an instantly updated look as well.

The first realization to revel in is the fact that you can create impressive results, without spending a lot of money. A drab room is easily transformed with just a little bit of paint and a few strategic colorful accessories, pillows or throws that are well placed. Think about the type of transformation you’d like to see and make a few well-placed moves to achieve that end.
