A trailer is a very useful thing to have and can be used for all sorts of things – whether you need to use it for a family holiday or you use it to help with the job that you do, but like anything to make sure that it lasts and remains useful you need to take care of it so that you get the best out of it.

Here are some things to do to make sure that your trailer stays safe, roadworthy and in good condition…

Give it a Clean – Keeping your trailer clean not only makes sure that it is looking good but it also stops dirt and grime from building up and causing damage to the trailer.

Check the Lights – If the lights on your trailer aren’t working you could be pulled over by the police as this is dangerous both for you and other road users. Perform checks on the lights regularly to make sure they are working correctly.

Make Repairs When Needed – There are many repairs that you may need to do on your trailer that you can do yourself. You can order trailer parts online but for big repairs or if you are unsure it is always best to go to a garage.

Check Tyre Pressure – A trailer will often be carrying heavy loads, and this puts pressure on tyres. Check the pressure regularly and look out for signs of damage to the tyres and punctures.
