Are Motorised Blinds Noisy?

Would you love to have motorised blinds in your home? Technology is taking over and in the last few years, the latest trend is introducing automated and smart window dressings into the home. This means that you can open and close blinds at the touch of a button, from your smartphone or even by voice command.

But, since this is relatively new technology, some homeowners are not quite sure what to expect. Namely, families want to know if motorised blinds are noisy especially if they have children. Let’s take a look at the answer to this question.

Are Motorised Blinds Going to be Loud?

You are going to be opening and shutting blinds several times during the day. The last thing you want is for them to be noisy in the home. So, this is something that a lot of homeowners want to know about before they purchase motorised blinds. Well, we have some good news. Generally, motorised blinds are not going to be noisy. Certainly, this is not going to be a sound that will be annoying. Most people that have them say that the benefits of them outweigh any noise they create.

The noise that you hear is unlikely to be disturbing or distracting. After all, so many households are choosing to upgrade to motorised blinds. So, if they were that bad, this would not be the case. Instead, you are likely to hear a whirring noise or a humming sound. This is only going to be quick since the blinds do not take long to cover the windows. If you have a television on or are you working and moving around the house, it is not going to be a noise that you notice.

Just as the name suggests, motorised blinds do have a motor. This is what is able to handle the hard work for you. So, you are going to hear it when it is in operation. But, if you want to double check before you purchase motorised blinds, you can always ask a company like Smart Blinds. They have an experienced team who offer motorised blinds and know all about the brand they sell. They can advise you on the best ones to purchase and confirm that these blinds are not going to disturb you.

What Factors Could Play a Part in Noise?

Ultimately, every motorised blind is going to be different. But, there are some factors that might play a part in the noise you can expect. So, here are some things to consider when you are choosing motorised blinds.

The Brand

The truth is, there are going to be some brands that are better than others. In other words, some brands will use quality parts to create their motorised blinds. Others will try to do this cheaply. This might mean that some motors are quieter than others. So, ask about what brand is going to be best.

Size

The size of the motorised blinds may play a part in how much noise it creates. For example, it might be large and require more than one motor. This means that you are going to hear sounds from more than one at once.

Power

Another factor that might contribute to the noise you can expect from motorised blinds is how it is powered. Namely, there are two options available, you can have blinds that are powered by batteries or choose mains powered options. Often, people consider whether their windows are near power outlets or if they would rather pay for batteries over electricity.

Well, there is the possibility that some models powered by battery may be louder than mains powered blinds. For example, you would more power to come from electricity. This can mean that blinds open and close quicker than by battery. So, this could mean that batteries create more noise because the motor is running for longer. This is a question that you can ask the company.

Why Are Motorised Blinds Really Noisy?

Ultimately, motorised blinds should not be outrageously noisy to have in your home. If this is the case, it might be that there is something wrong with them. Namely, there could be a problem that needs to be repaired.

For example, there might be parts that need lubrication. This can happen to motor parts that are constantly working, such as the gears and wheels. Thus, when they lack lubrication, it can make noise. Alternatively, the motorised blinds might need to be repaired by a professional. The noise you hear could be due to loose or damaged parts. Since the motors can be intricate on these blinds, so it is best to contact the manufacturer.
