How to Find the Ideal Bath for your Master Bathroom

Russell Dawson May 18, 2018 Reviews Leave a Comment

The master bathroom is one of the important rooms in your house. If you are planning to upgrade or renovate your bathroom, make sure that you choose the best bath on the market. Some homeowners have been arguing that baths are too large to fit in their bathrooms. However, the truth is there are different types of baths and you can find a perfect bath for your master bathroom. Here are tips to help you find that perfect bath.

Choose the right type of bath

This is the first thing you need to consider when planning to install a bath. You definitely have an idea of the best bath based on the architectural design of your house. However, it is advisable that you also consider other types of baths to determine the best type. There are two major types of baths;

  • Built-in
  • Freestanding

A built-in bath is a bath unfinished on two sides installed against a wall or within an already built bath enclosure. This horizontal platform is usually covered in tiles. They are made in an alcove setting which looks best when installed in a corner or under a focal window of your master bathroom. Compared to other types of baths, this bath is likely to use more space. It is, however, cheaper to install a built-in bath than freestanding baths.

As the name suggests, a freestanding bath is a bath that stands on its own. The best thing about this type of bath is that it is available in different sizes, designs and styles. The other advantage is that they don’t require a platform to function. It is not advisable to install this type of bath against a wall.

Size

Whichever type of bath you decide to choose, make sure that it is the ideal size. A bath which is too small may be uncomfortable for you. A bath which is too large may also cool water quickly. The best way to find the right size is to try it before you buy. Get into the bath, stretch to determine whether it fits you perfectly. There are also one-person and two-person baths. If you will be bathing with your spouse, you may want to consider a two-person bath.

Material choice

Today, baths are made of different materials. The most common material is acrylic. These baths are easy to clean and stain resistant. They are also anti-scratch, making them durable. Other types of material are natural stone and metal.

Finally, consider the cost of maintaining the bath. Built-in baths, for instance, consume a lot of water. Enquire about water usage and heat before deciding on the best bath. This will help you make an informed decision prior to the purchase.
