Using a portable AC rental is a great alternative for temporary spaces or when you simply need to move an air conditioning unit from room to room. It also works as a supplemental cooling system if you are entertaining a large event and your permanent central HVAC system is not working properly.Because you are renting the unit, it is important to take extra care to keep it in good condition when it is time to return the unit.Below are a few tips that will ensure the unit works for the duration of your use and is in good working condition when it is returned.

Keep the Exhaust Hose Straight Straightening the exhaust hose is extremely important to ensure the unit operate properly for the entire time you have it. This hose is used to vent hot air out through a window or door. Twists, kinks or attempting to extend the hose will interfere with its performance and lower its efficiency. Additionally, when you keep the hose straight, it will help to prevent a buildup of excess moisture, which can lead to internal damage.Keep the Door ClosedClosed spaces are the ideal place for portable units.

Make sure the door is closed if you are placing the unit in a basement or bedroom. Otherwise, excess warm air will prevent the cool air from circulating properly.Open floor plans such as living rooms and kitchens may require a different process to maximize the unit’s effectiveness. In some situations, the corner of the room works best. Make sure it is in the coolest corner and beside a window so the unit does not overheat.Turn on the Unit in Advance A few hours before you need the room to be cool, turn on the portable air conditioner. This will give it time cool and deliver a more energy efficient service. Early mornings or late afternoons are ideal times when outside temperatures are cooler. Doing this prevents the unit from working too hard to keep the room cool. Use the timer feature so the unit can turn on and off as needed.Everybody wants to feel comfortable indoors and not bothered by hot weather.

These few tips will help you maximize the efficiency of the portable unit for the length of time it is in use. Keeping it clean will also ensure it continues to work properly by not becoming over stressed during hot summer months.
