How to Make Your Own Roman Blinds

If you are looking for a unique way to add some personality and style to your windows, then it is time that you learn how to make your own Roman blinds. The great thing about making your own blinds is that there are no limits, so whatever kind of window frame or blind you have can be used to create your own unique blends. They look great at the windows of Oak Extensions as well as the windows in the main part of your home. You could even speak to the people who are installing your Timberpride Oak Extensions and find out the window sizes so you can be making the roman blinds in advance of its installation.

The first step is to gather up all of the supplies that you will need to include a piece of wood that has a slight curve to it, some nails and a few small plastic rings. Once you have gathered up all of your supplies, it is time to take out the tape measure, pencil and paper. You are going to want to draw the layout of the window recess on the paper so that you will know where the blinds need to go when you install them. This is important because the blinds will be laying horizontally in the window recess.

You also need to buy the material that you want to be using in the colours and patterns that you love. It is important to then look for a pattern online and follow the instructions as to how to cut and sew this element of your blind.

Once you have drawn out your layout, it is time to start cutting the pieces of wood that will form the blinds. Your next step is to measure the size of the opening in the window frame where you plan to install your blinds. Once you have the exact size, you can pre-drill a few holes in the wood that will allow for the cords to be attached to the blind. Then it is time to start stringing the small plastic rings on to the batten, cutting the batten at an angle so that the rings don’t catch on anything. When you are finished, simply pull up on the blind and it will hang without any catches.
