Making People Social Again

Russell Dawson June 14, 2018 Reviews Leave a Comment

A Tradition As Old As Time

For centuries, humans have gathered around fires. In the beginning, it was for survival. It warmed them and allowed them a place to cook their food, so they could nourish their bodies. A few centuries later, and a fire was used primarily as a source of light and gathering. People sat around and told stories. For many, these stories were the only method of keeping their collected history. Nowadays, gathering around fires is used primarily for social events. Whether it’s as simple as a family get together, or as intimate as a romantic dinner in front of the fireplace, it remains a stable in the human psyche for a place of togetherness and sharing.

Art And Function

Artist Sandra Vlock understands this rich history of fire and how it has been used by human society. As such, she has turned her artistic skill to further the beauty and sense of connection between people by crafting a customized metal gate design that can sit around each fire pit or as a gate for a fireplace. Her work has often been used by luxury hotels, spas, wineries, resorts, and private individuals to create a space that promotes social gathering. Whether strangers are drawn to the piece to discuss it and forge new friendships, or a couple delights in its elegant design and choose it as a spot to further connect with one another, the possibilities are all made possible by her unique design.

Thus far, Sandra Vlock has crafted corten steel gates, decorative fire screens, and Fireballs to delight clients all around. She also utilizes repurposed steel in an effort to keep her art green and to help the environment. Whether you’re interested in one of her pieces yourself, or perhaps know of a perfect spot for a piece at your resort, you should look over her gallery. Commission a piece with Studio Vlock, and you’ll allow the age-old tradition of gathering around fires and sharing and connecting to flourish. Together, you can encourage socializing once more.
