How to babyproof a house before moving in?

As the baby grows more and starts exploring the world more, you need to make some important updates to your home to make your home safe and secure as much as possible. If you are considering relocating to another place then before you hire the best moving companies Seattle at Moving Apt, it is great to babyproof your home. Being parents, this should only be your priority. If you are looking for tips then check out these:

Tackle the first things at first

It is important to fix the big things at first like it is time to fix the temperature of the water heater. Be sure it is below 120 degrees F. If the home is built before 1978 then it is important to check whether the lead paint is present on the walls. Kids especially toddlers tend to chip or peel the paint present making them get exposed to the lead.

Furniture

Be sure there are no sharp edges and corners present on the furniture items. These will put your toddler at the risk of getting serious injuries or cuts. Put the corner guards on the table edges especially the ones which are present at the lower level.

 Keep the bathrooms locked

The bathroom is an area where most of the injuries occur therefore be sure your kid doesn’t put herself or himself at any risk. The water present and the cabinets filled with harmful chemicals and cleaning agents can be very risky for them. Babies find bathrooms attractive and they like playing in toilets with water and other items present in vanity cabinets. So be sure the bathrooms present in your home are locked well all the time and they can’t access these.

Relocate valuable items

Of course, no one wants their kid to play with the valuable items because no one can’t afford to lose these by either misplacing or damaging these items. Therefore, it is time to change their place from where your kid can’t access these.

Use baby gates to prohibit their entry

There are always certain danger zones present for a kid like a kitchen, a bathroom, and certain other zones. Now, this is time to use baby gates so that children won’t be able to enter those areas. Limit their movements to certain spaces so that they don’t put themselves in any kind of danger zone.

Cover the electric outlets

Check all the electric outlets which are within reach of the toddler and remember that a toddler likes to put things into things. They might stick things into electric sockets so before you start living there in your new home, it is better to cover all the electric outlets. Be sure the covers you use are tight-fitted.

Check what your baby can access

You should crawl around for a few minutes and have to think like a baby. From the baby’s perspective and at their level, check out all the hazardous points. Look for any point of interest that would draw the attention of your baby and then determine the ways how you can keep your baby protected by finding a solution to that problem.

Add locks to windows

To prevent the opening of windows by a child, ensure that you use the window locks. If these locks have keys to open then these should only be in reach of the adult members of the house. Also, check if there are furniture items present below these because they can climb onto these items to access the windows to open these. If yes then it is time to remove these.

In the end, never leave your baby unattended!

Remember that babies can get caught in harm at any time even when you have created a safe space for them so be sure you always keep an eye on them. Don’t leave them unattended not even for a second.

Wrapping it all up!!!

Babies are inherently curious and they want to explore things present around them. So be sure they don’t create any havoc and you make the home security for them. As you decorate your house with baby in mind, do not forget to babyproof every corner. With the help of these above tips, you can make the place secure for them before they start crawling or walking in your new home.
